Description and Uses

Cerablak® HTP-100 is an all-purpose ceramic coating that provides corrosion protection and high emissivity to metal and ceramic substrates. This fully ceramic coating maintains adhesion to the substrate even under thermal shock or tool drop conditions. It is suitable for use on pipe infrastructure, laboratory furnaces, heating elements, weld joints, and more.

Before Spraying


Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area such as a fume hood. Use when temperature is between 50-80°F (10- 27°C) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying. Avoid spraying in very windy and dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect from spray mist.


Abrade surface with Scotch Brite RedTM or light grit blast (recommended 320 grit aluminum oxide at 100 psig). Rinse surface with ethyl alcohol and acetone and let dry. Heat clean surface for 5 minutes at 300°F (150°C). Surface heating instruments, such as infrared lamps, may be used to heat sensitive substrates and minimize tarnishing. It is important that all residual coatings be removed from surfaces prior to application.



Shake can vigorously for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to rattle DO NOT STRIKE CAN. Contact Cerablak. Shake often during use. 

Hold can 10-12" from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke, moving the can at 1 foot per second. Keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying. Apply 8 or more light passes 30 seconds or more apart. Wait until each pass is visually dry before applying the next one. Warning: The coating may crack if it is applied too thick. The intended thickness is less than the thickness of a hair (25 µm). 

Do not use near open flame. 


Using a heat gun, oven, or infrared lamp, dry the coating at the following temperatures:

176°F (80°C) for 10 minutes

250°F (120°C) for 20 minutes

If the coating has visible cracking after drying is complete, wash it off with water and deposit again. Either the coating was too thick, or the substrate surface was not sufficiently clean before depositing.

Again, using a heat gun, oven, or infrared lamp, cure the coating at the following temperature:

570°F (300°C) for 10 minutes*

*The part may be cured in service if service temperatures exceed 570°F for at least 5 minutes.


Wipe off tip when finished. Clean up wet paint with ethyl alcohol or acetone. Properly discard empty container. Do not burn or place in trash compactor.


If the valve clogs, twist and pull off spray tip and rinse in a solvent such as ethyl alcohol or acetone. Do not insert any object into can valve opening.
